My car was totaled

What a way to re-start my blogging but it's been a hectic few month since I've last posted.
About my poor car, my baby.. a 2001 Toyota Celica GT...*heavy sigh*...
Parked it a block a way from my house on the corner last Sunday afternoon. I had driven around for 40 minutes and was so grateful to find this spot. I was planning on taking a vacation day Monday and because of alternate side of the street parking rules, finding a spot and the "correct side" is a nightmare in and on itself.

So, Monday after sleeping in, making some jewelry...it was about 6pm and I was getting ready to leave to run some errands.
As I am walking up the block, I don't see my car on the corner. As I kept going, I now see my car, pushed one car space ahead and totally mangled front and back!
Apparently, someone had rear ended my car in the wee hours of the morning, hitting with such force that it pushed it up an entire spot and UNDERNEATH the truck that was parked in front of my.
The truck in front of me had filed the police report and was towed before I even knew anything had happened. I was left with a little piece of paper from the 115th precinct, wedged in the end block, only to be found 1 day later.

You have to love hit and run drivers! And the NYC 115th precinct in Queens,NY for NOT contacting me that my car was involved in an accident, leaving it sit there 12 hours with just a stupid piece of paper the size of a dollar bill as my "notification". NICE!

I live in an apartment building with no garage so basically it's drive, drive, drive around until you find something!
And no, you don't sound stupid at all..this is just the life of a typical NYC resident
